There has only been a few times I’ve experienced stillness this complete. Maybe never before like this. To say there was no sound does not do it justice. It bordered on eeriness to stand on the edge of a lake so vast that the other side has no horizon, has no separation between heaven and earth, to stand there and not hear a single sound. I broke that silence with the crunch of my feet and then the clicks of my shutter. The image was completed quickly for it was an easy execution and I returned this place to its silence.

Time has no meaning in such places. It seems like the silly invention by humans it is. I’m not talking about the continuation of life, I’m talking about the obsessive need to track it, organize it, live by it. That stops in these places. Where am I suppose to be, what am I suppose to be doing, what is expected of me…all gone the moment you stop moving and just stare. You can keep your schedules and expectations, I’ll stay here forever. I’ll walk out onto this water and head for that endless horizon, living in this space of peace and beauty and stillness.
