The choice to shoot, not just pull out the phone to take a snap shot, but to methodically craft an image is different for every photographer. Occasionally I’ve pulled out my camera when I’m with others and have gotten a look like why are you shooting this. I just ignore them. Sometimes it’s not obvious, sometimes the final image will not be what is seen in reality. Sometimes it’s a shape or line that draws my attention. It doesn’t always work out but part of being a visual artist is looking at the world through the eyes of your medium.
