Down on the sand I find a lone rock in the surf. I take out a specialized camera called a Hasselblad 903SWC, an extremely wide angle medium format camera. The water swirling with the incoming tide will blur under the five minute exposure turning a soft gray in the final image. I lock open the shutter and step away to not disturb the sand around the tripods extended legs. Looking down the coast all is open solitude. I don’t see another human. The tide has turned and is coming back in. I close the shutter and recompose, I could use a bit more time listening to the surf. I have time for a few more exposures.
