Two tiny silhouetted people in the far distance. No other humans are visible. Now, I will tell you that one is my young daughter and the other my wife. I stood far apart, observing the distant uninhibited play of loved ones. I knew they were smiling, that their feet felt cold, that running in surf makes them joyous. And yet there I stood, high above on a bluff. Have you ever watched your loved ones from a distance. Watched with that knowing familiarity that only comes from intimacy. Now look at the image again with those thoughts, the thoughts personal to your own story. What do you feel? Maybe something, maybe nothing. I don’t want to know, that’s yours alone to experience.
