Badwater exists in the harshest environment in North America. It’s a land of extreme dualities. Water will collect, flooding the salted floor of an ancient lakebed. It won’t last, evaporation is one constant in this arid landscape. But for a brief moment I stand in the fading light, scanning the possibilities and thinking about the eerie way in which life can be cruel.
