Standing on a piece of time in a corner of a foreign town, in its old cemetery of 1634. Asleep most are but not I. I have come for the strange alluring pull of this place. Standing in a dark corner, sharing space with other night animals I keep asking myself why we seek creative grace. I’m not sure what that even means but I keep repeating it to myself as if I’ve slightly lost my mind and maybe I had. Maybe that’s why we come to places like this, to feel a little out of mind. To become for a moment what Hermann Hesse describes as a steppenwolf. The night and art can do that to you.

The gaseous street lamps give off barely enough light so I must keep my shutter open for hours and here I am, standing in this cemetery going slightly mad at thoughts that have no answer.
