Halfway between Halfdome and Clouds Rest lie the Quarter Domes. Two distinct granite domes that sit above Tenaya Canyon. To get here requires a short cross country bushwhack through a tangled forest. Don’t let that stop you. It’s secluded, and peaceful, and quiet. Perching the camera on the very rim allowed me to get the full gut feeling of air and space. Later on my way back down to the Valley floor I pass a group of boys and tell them how to find this spot. Hours later I come across them and they tell me it was the best hike they’ve ever done. I just smile for I’ve passed it on.
