It’s a waiting game sometimes, a relaxed game whose pieces are composed of clouds, mountains, light, and trees. The clouds shift and move and the light with it. When to depress the shutter, when to wait. With only 12 frames per roll of film I’m limited but in that also lies a rich intentionality.

So I waited. I first framed this distant peak, Four Gables I think, in full light with only a smattering of clouds. It had almost no depth and lacked interest. But watching the clouds I could see they’d eventually build and cover the sky. These clouds also create shadow and with it, visual depth.
