Just over the border from Oregon into Northern California Mount Shasta rises rather abruptly around a bend along highway 97. I’ve driven this route more times than I can count and I’ve always wanted to capture this scene but until last April the mountain didn’t stand out with the kind of contrast I was searching for. Not until I saw it, and nothing else, covered with snow, did the contrast unfold the way I had envisioned. Subject isolation indeed. Sometimes it can take years for a landscape scene to line up.
