Twelve years ago while hiking in Jedidiah Redwood State Park in northern California my wife first felt our daughter move inside her. Last spring we walked the same trail and I tell my daughter this, but it has no meaning for her, just a parent reminiscing about time. She shrugged and ran ahead. I could hear her singing far up the trail. It’s strange sometimes to think of these things. The trillium are blooming and they’re beautiful, one of my favorite flowers. It’s brilliant white stands in sharp contrast to the dark surrounding green, exists in temporal contrast to the towering redwood trees above.
