A descent into the heart of these mountains. At least that’s what it feels like leaving the high country and descending into a deep canyon, walled in by rising granite walls. A few thousand years ago this all would be ice, what a sight that would have been.

It’s a slow morning walk, for I have no destination tonight, just a southern heading. I’ll make it to my next waypoint where I’ll decide to alter my entire walk, but I don’t know that yet. The sky is cloudless again so my mind turns to contrasts and running water. On a sloping granite shoulder there is a little rivulet streaming by. I smear my way out to it and setup close. This camera will see inches in front if its lens way out to the horizon. I want to enhance that feeling of walking into the mountains. Into a great chasm whose exit is unknown.

Walking into the mountains is full of unknowns, and that’s a good thing. Embrace it, sit with it, feel it deep inside.
