I awoke to my final day on this walk to the deep indigo in the east. The moon was rising over North Palisades and I rose and setup to capture it in Moonrise Over North Palisades. I knew I had captured something special. While standing there the morning got brighter. The sun was going to peek right behind the ridge. I don’t often capture something like this, it usually feels a little contrived. But this morning it felt good so I stayed where I was and waited for it to crest. I had time to make coffee and come back.

It’s these moments when an image is going to happen but there’s time I feel a calm certainty. I sipped the coffee and thought about the miles walked this time. About the struggles and the pleasures. The tears and the sublime. The people met and the solitude experienced. What a joy it is to be here.
