I stripped and swam in the cold water. One of the purest pleasures up here is to walk all day and end with a dip in cool water. Dripping I setup on the edge of the lake and frame a set of underwater rocks. Refreshed and relaxed I capture the feeling and lay out under the sun on a warm granite slab.
Backpacking is full of little pleasures like this. That a simple swim in cool water would feel almost magical seems silly away from this place. The captured frame that sits undeveloped on the roll. The cup of hot coffee while the sun rises. Watching the Clark’s Nutcracker tap at the Whitebark Pine Cone. Little moments of real pleasure that have everything to do with the experience of them.
